Varnish
Learn just what Varnish is. Get to know more about web accelerators and their goal.
Varnish is a website accelerator tool, which has been gaining a lot in popularity lately, because it can increase the speed of any site, at times even by 100 percent, depending on the content. This tool is occasionally called an HTTP reverse proxy as well and is used to reduce the overall load on the physical machine and to enhance the access speed for the website visitors. Whenever a visitor accesses a page on a particular site, the browser request is handled by the web server and the requested information is sent as a response. If Varnish is activated, it caches the web pages that the visitor browses and if any of them is accessed for a second time, it is served by Varnish and not by the server directly. The performance boost comes from the fact that the accelerator handles the browser requests substantially quicker than any web server, which leads to much faster browsing speeds for the site visitors. If any content is edited in the meantime, the cached pages will also be updated the next time someone opens them.

Varnish in Cloud Website Hosting
If you host your Internet sites in a
cloud website hosting account with our company, you’ll be able to add Varnish with a couple of mouse clicks via your Control Panel. The content caching platform comes as an optional upgrade with all our hosting packages and you can select the number of the sites that will use it and the total amount of system memory that will be used for the cached content. The two upgradeable features in the Control Panel’s Upgrades section are the number of instances and the amount of memory and they aren’t linked directly to each other, so you can decide whether you need plenty of memory for one large-size website or less memory for multiple smaller ones. You can make use of the full potential of Varnish in case the sites use a dedicated IP. Using the hosting Control Panel, you can effortlessly start/reboot/cancel an instance, clear the cached data independently for each website which uses the Varnish platform or view a detailed log file.

Varnish in Semi-dedicated Servers
Varnish is a feature, which is included by default with all
semi-dedicated servers that we are offering and you can use it for workload balancing purposes. It’s available in your Hepsia hosting Control Panel. The Varnish content caching platform comes with 64 MB of system memory for cached content storing purposes and you can use it with any Internet site that you host in the semi-dedicated server account. In case you are in need of more than that, you can increase the system memory allowance. The memory itself is available in increments of 32 MB in the Upgrades section of the Control Panel. The exact same section will permit you to create more instances too, if you wish to use Varnish with multiple websites. The two things can be ordered separately – you can cache the content of one resource-requiring website or run a number of sites with the default memory allocation. You can take full advantage of the Varnish caching platform if you use a dedicated IP and you can order one with your semi-dedicated plan as well. The Hepsia Control Panel will give you total control over the caching platform and, with no more than one click of the mouse, you will be able to delete the cached content, to check a system log file or to restart an instance.

Varnish in VPS Servers
The Varnish platform is included by default with each of the
VPS servers that we offer on the condition that the virtual machine is ordered with the Hepsia Control Panel, so you can boost the work of your sites with just a few clicks of the mouse. The more powerful the package, the more system memory Varnish will have at its disposal, but even with a lower-end package, the caching platform will be able to utilize several hundred MB, so even if you run several sites, you will notice a substantial reduction in the server load and a tremendously faster page load speed. The platform will have to work for a while as the visitors browse the website and once the content has been cached, you’ll observe the result. One of the pluses of employing Varnish is that a lower-end and less high-priced package will accomplish the same job as a more expensive one without the platform, so not only will your Internet sites perform substantially better, but you’ll also spare some cash.

Varnish in Dedicated Servers
In case you order a
dedicated server with the Hepsia Control Panel, you’ll obtain the Varnish data caching platform at no additional fee and you will exert complete control over it via a truly simple-to-use GUI – you’ll be able to start, to terminate or to reboot an instance, to view an in-depth log, to delete the cached data associated with any Internet site and much, much more. Varnish will have several GB of memory at its disposal, so even if you’ve got popular sites with plenty of visitors, you will notice the significantly faster page load times and the lowered load on your server. This will happen soon after you start using the Varnish platform, since it will need some time to cache the pages that visitors browse. You can take full advantage of the platform’s potential in case the Internet sites that are using it also use a dedicated IP, but since your server comes with several IP addresses by default, you won’t need to pay anything on top of your monthly fee for the server itself.
