If you want to transfer a domain from one domain registrar to another, you’ll need a special code, which may be called by multiple names – an EPP key, an Auth code, a domain password, and so on. All these names denote one and the same thing – a code that the domain owner receives from the present registrar and provides to the new one during the order process. Without a valid code, a transfer procedure cannot be started and this is one of the safety mechanisms against unauthorized transfers used with all gTLD and with most ccTLD extensions. For even better security, the code contains digits and/or special symbols and is case-sensitive, so in case you want to transfer one of your domain names, you have to provide the new registrar with the right code.
